Event Description:
Weed in the Workplace: What WV Employers Need To Know.
In this session, we will explore what WV employers need to do to mitigate liability and reduce risk considering recent medical cannabis legislation and the potential legalization for recreational use. Specifically, we will discuss necessary policies and best practices, recent case law, and how to navigate the conflicts between state and federal law.
About the Presenters: Allison Williams is a Member of Steptoe & Johnson in its Labor and Employment Department. Allison spends the bulk of her time counseling employers on a variety of issues relating to their employees including: accommodations, FMLA compliance, best practices with respect to policies and procedures, wage and hour issues and drug testing. In addition to her counseling practice, Ms. Williams also spends a significant amount of her time defending companies against lawsuits brought by employees relating to employment practices or decisions. Ms. Lazar is an Associate Attorney with Steptoe & Johnson in its Labor and Employment Department. Like Ms. Williams, Ms. Lazar spends much of her practice defending companies in against lawsuits relating to employment practices or decisions.
